This case study discusses a content analysis of political content in introductory social work theory textbooks. Utilizing social work educational competencies and key theoretical paradigms, including Bloom's Taxonomy and Niemi's "Internal Political Efficacy Scale," a coding rubric and rules were developed to analyze 607 chapter learning objectives in six social work textbooks. This case study outlines the development of the coding process, the selection of the artifacts, and the process utilized to analyze the study's results. Additionally, this case study highlights the challenges encountered in completing a content analysis, including concerns for intercoder reliability and the selection of standards of judgment utilized to analyze the results of the content analysis. Thus, this case study provides an informative review of the content analysis process and highlights key considerations that future researchers should take when conducting a content analysis as they look to build knowledge in their field of study Description based on XML content |
